Spirit for Sustainability 

Celebrate Together, Sustain Together

At PTA events, we’re making a conscious effort to reduce waste — especially plastic — and we’d love your support!

• Food & Drinks: Most items will be served in paper wrappers, and coffee in paper cups. Please remember to bring your reusable water bottles.

• Takeaway Treats: Feel free to bring your own containers for any take away foods.

• Student Leadership: Middle School students and Elementary STUCO help us reduce waste by collecting and sorting garbage.

• Cafeteria Reusables: For some food options, we are using the cafeteria’s cutlery and dishes.

• Outside vendors are always asked to opt for non-plastic dishes to serve their food.

Together, we can make Spirit Day, Winterfest, and all PTA events fun, memorable, and sustainable.

Resourceful Decorations

To reduce waste, we aim not be using balloons for most of our events. Instead, we are focusing on creative and reusable decorations that can be enjoyed year after year. Whenever possible, we will repurpose items already available at school — such as props from the theater department or materials from past PTA events — and reimagine them for Spirit Day, Winterfest, and beyond.

Pre-Loved Spirit Wear Drive

Give your old ASIJ T-shirts and hoodies a second life! If you have spirit wear that’s clean and in good condition, please send it (washed!) with your child to school before summer break or by early October.

In past years, our Pre-Loved Spirit Wear Booth has been a big hit at Spirit Day — let’s keep the tradition going! Your donations help other families show their Mustang pride while reducing waste.
