Whether it be on e-readers (kindle, kobo) or actual books, reading is a great pastime for any age but it is not always sustainable to purchase real books. Did you know that the ASIJ library is a great resource for both students and parents?
Here is a link to the ASIJ library catalog: ASIJ Library Resources. In addition, the ES library has an entire bookshelf devoted to books that support all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and there are digital resources that parents can use as well: ASIJ ES Library Digital Resources.
Aside from school, why not try the city library? For instance, Minato-ku has the Minato City Libraries. Once you get your library card (easily done at the library), you can borrow books from all the affiliated Minato City libraries. The Azabu library has a good selection of books written in English for children. Here are few links to different city libraries:
