Looking for stores with organic and plant-based products? Check out this resourceful bilingual website that features organic and plant-based information for Japan. Also, be sure to check out this list of local shopping options below. The list has been updated to include one of the places the Eco Shop-Along Club visited in November: Oizumi Factory Nishi Azabu. If you live around the Azabu area and want vegan bread, a 100% vegan bakery Te Cor Gentil has been added too!
Refusing plastic at stores can sometimes be hard. Last school year, we shared how to “Refuse Peacefully” at stores. ASIJ Japanese teacher Mihoko Shamada Raub, founder of ASIJ’s MS student group, Fighters For Future, shares her experience and a simple Japanese phrase that makes a big difference when refusing single use plastic in the checkout line. For those of you who are new or need to refresh yourself, Click on the Video Link to Learn A Better and More Effective Phrase for Refusing Single-use Plastic!
There are also many bulk stores popping up in Tokyo which can make things much simpler! Here are some tried and tested (by me) recommendations. Is your favorite bulk store on the list? If not, please let me know so I can add it to the list!
