The PTA is excited to invite the whole ASIJ Family, your guests, our alumni and their parents as well as our local community to the Winterfest of 2023 on Saturday, Dec 2 at 10 AM on the ASIJ Chofu Campus! Winterfest is the biggest PTA event of the year and is one of the highlights of the school year. It has been welcoming more than 3,000 visitors each year for almost 50 years!
There will be fun games, international food booths, delicious baked goods, performances, International Bazaar of outside vendors, student-led activities and lots more! Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks. Be sure to check the pre-registration activities, transportation, volunteer opportunities and other important notices. Japanese Tea Ceremony Performances - Sign-Up To Watch (Free!)
Watch ES, MS, and HS students perform a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony on the tatami mat in our very own Japan Center. Free of charge! Drop-ins will be welcome as well if there is enough space.
Bubble Soccer on the Main Field (¥700/per person/per game) - Sign-Up To Play
Are you a MS or HS student, or an adult? Form a team of 5 and sign-up to book your 15 minute time slot for some intense fun! One advisory against another? Teachers vs students? Lads vs Dads? Come and watch and you won't be able to stop laughing all day.
Child Care Room - Sign-Up to Use (Free!)
We're offering a new Child Care Booth in the ES Donut building.
These past week, we are fortunate to have an increased supporting resources. We are thrilled to announce that the Child Care booth (9 AM-2 PM) will be open to all ASIJ families with ELC and ASIJ Kindergarten-aged children! Sign up now to secure your spot!

Red Cross Blood Drive - Sign-Up to Donate
Pre-Medical Society will be hosting our annual Red Cross Blood Drive on the ASIJ campus during Winterfest! The Japanese Red Cross Society is seeking your help to make sure there is an adequate blood supply this winter season. Please consider donating blood during Winterfest. Even just one donation can save up to three lives! If you are over 16 and have not traveled outside of Japan between Nov 2 - Dec 2, 2023. Please pre-register for time slots between 9:30 AM & 2:00 PM in HS Room 108.
Pickleball Lab at the Tennis Court - Sign-Up Now Closed
Come see USA Pickleball National Champion, Daniel Moore run a workshop for this up and coming sport and see why it's spreading so fast! Pre-registered participants will be playing, but spectators are welcome!
Kimono Photos - Sign-Up Now Closed
The Winterfest Kimono Booth offers a complete experience including hair arrangement, make-up, kimono dressing and photo shooting with trained staff. Formal family style, graduation style, or 7-5-3 children's celebration style.
Transportation and Parking
ASIJ Bus Service - Register to Use (free!)
Get picked up in your neighborhood, and arrive at the event by 8am, 9am, or 10am. Registration is only required for the morning buses, the afternoon buses returning to Tokyo are available to anyone and will depart starting at 1pm through 4pm as they fill up. Here are the maps for morning stops and afternoon stops.
Parking - Sign-Up Now Closed
Parking on campus is very limited, and is distributed to families via lottery. This process is now complete, and there is no additional parking available. Please email PTA parking volunteer Brad Ellis at wf.parking@pta.asij.ac.jp for any questions.
Payment at Winterfest
You can use Gold Card, Credit Card or cash for payments at different booths. Bring your parent ID and make sure your Gold Card is sufficiently charged and with appropriate upper limits for charging! If you prefer to use cash, please consider bringing cash in smaller bills or coins.
Safety
Please bring Parent ID Cards for entry to campus. Guests must be accompanied by a current parent or guardian and register at the gate.

reProm
Winterfest committee is creating this new booth. We are looking for clean, gently used prom dresses or other types of formal wear in good condition to be donated to our reProm initiative. Drop the items off near the HS Office. If the dresses don't find a new owner at Winterfest, they will be upcycled for a cause. Contact the organizers for drop-off details.
reBook
Winterfest wishes to be a channel for recycling of SAT/AP study books and college guidebooks. Please send in any used study books for SAT/AP/ACT or any college prep books to be sold at Winterfest. Contact our Student Group Coordinators at wf.studentgroup@pta.asij.ac.jp for drop-off details.
Coffee capsules recycling
Love coffee? Be a part of this Sustainability effort!
At our specially dedicated Coffee Booth, we ask the community to bring in their used Nespresso capsules to school and recycle it at the Coffee Booth. Whoever brings used capsules will receive one free coffee at the stand.
Plastic bottle caps
Bring in from your home or your work any plastic caps from PET bottles to our new Clean Station & Bloop Booth. The collected caps will help the booth continue with their mission of keeping plastics out of the ocean! You can also join the workshops to make your very own upcycled sustainability key chain. This unique booth is ASIJ’s first attempt to analyze the amount and kind of trash we produce at a large school-wide event. ES students will collect the trash and MS students will analyze it to see how we can reduce the overall amount. Help create awareness to make our Winterfest sustainable and fun!
Used or new toys
ASIJ Boy Scout Troop 5 is collecting gently used or new toys to be sold at Winterfest. The proceeds will support their service learning through projects related to environmental conservation and community service. You can drop off the items at Chofu Campus along the pool corridor outside the HS Gym on Winterfest day. Questions can be directed to Shino Torigoe-Yeh at torigoeshino@gmail.com.
Performances (ASIJ Theater)
Come to the ASIJ Theater to watch the wonderful performances by students and guests. Feel the energy, the holiday mood, the beauty and the magic with these shows. Entry is free of charge!
The Amazing Fraser Performance is a Magic Show. Other than the theater show, Fraser will have street performance in the courtyard (10:30 to 10:50 AM) and from (11:15 to 11:35 AM).
The Ukrainian Performance is a short traditional Ukrainian holiday play with traditional dance and songs.

International Bazaar
Purchase items from amazing vendors in this holiday market sharing their food, products, and interactive activities. In past years, our bazaar has included: hand crafted items, Christmas & Holiday themed gifts, kitchen knives, toys, jewelry, antiques, carpets, interior decor, and artwork.
Nail Art
Get your nails painted in the latest fashion by future beauticians from Yamano Beauty College. Children and adults alike are welcome to feel pampered. We’ll offer holiday designs and also some other designs that may attract the teens!

A little tired from the crowd? Want to take a quiet break? Then head over to the new Arts and Crafts table in the ES Lobby to make some friendship bracelets.
Santa Claus?
Naughty or not this year, Santa Claus will visit ASIJ. Be ready to smile for photos and maybe secretly overhear your child(ren)'s wish list this year.

International Food Booths
Celebrate ASIJ's diversity at the Winterfest international food festival in our cafeteria and on the outdoor grills!
Look for traditional soul foods or try something you've never had before. Throughout the day, parent-volunteers will be cooking and serving
delicious menu items, sharing their cultures and flavors with all of us.

Baked Goods and Candies
Stop by our fabulous art works of baked goods and candy booths. Our Mustang baking community will bring you cookies, cupcakes, brownies, ginger bread, rocky road, fudge, vegan and gluten-free options to satisfy a sweet tooth. Prices will range from 100-500 yen.
Beverages and Coffee Booths
The Beverage Booth will have plenty of cold beverages, including some staples like water and green tea as well as other favorites like Coke and Fanta (100-150 yen). See our Sustainability Effort section on a new, dedicated Coffee Booth that serves Nespresso coffee this year. (Coffee and pastry 100-200 yen)

Snowflake Symmetry
Enjoy the Winter Wonderland Magic with the Snowflake Artwork - "Snowflake Symmetry" - found all around the Campus on Winterfest Day, creations by MS Art Students and MS Art Teachers.
Gingerbread Man Parade
Check out the 2nd Grade ES Students creations of a beautiful Gingerbread Man Parade. Please visit the exhibition in the HS Book Locker Hallway.

Outdoor Activities on the Main Field
There will be 3 enormous inflatable playgrounds perfect for ELC and ES aged children. There will also be a reverse bungee, for all aged students as well as those who are still kids at heart.
